West Virginia Bat Sanctuary

Although fictitious, this logo embodies the goals and ideals of the “bat sanctuary” by illustrating the relationship between bats and nature and the impact they have on each other. The basis of this logo relies heavily on the visual metaphor of having the bat within a leaf silhouette. Research was conducted on bats to determine what they best pair with symbolically. From there, the symbols that are paired together could most accurately tell the story of where bats fit within the environment. In this case, bats play a vital role within our environment and are considered our “nocturnal pollinators”. Hence, the bat becoming one with the leaf to symbolize the prominent relationship bats have with nature.
